Business Process Re-Engineering Methodology
GlobalStar considers Business Process Re-engineering ("BPR") an integral part of all of our projects. Implementations and upgrades of ERP systems typically require moderate to major BPR. We generally take BPR a step further to identify:
  • Current inefficient processes
  • Current manual processes
  • Redundant systems
  • Redundant interfaces
Our analysts perform in-depth interviews regarding current business processes. These are documented then used to develop an understanding of the Client's requirements from the software product.

Our Functional Analysts, on average, have 15+ years in each business area, thus bringing a thorough understanding of business processes along with extensive Lawson and PeopleSoft expertise. Here are just a few examples of our Consultants' depth of practical business experience:
  • For 15+ years, one of our HR Consultants was a payroll manager
  • For 20+ years, another one of our HR Consultants was an HR Systems Director
  • For 15+ years, one of our Procurement Consultants was a Materials Manager
  • For 20+ years, one of our Financial Consultants was (still is) a practicing CPA
Our process for BPR recommendation is to present, when possible, more than one approach for implementation. We provide pros and cons to each alternative, and assist the Client with their own unique business decision by providing current Best Business Practices. Best Practices are obtained through our extensive experience at similar Clients, periodic surveys, and finally, which alternative will provide the most ROI (return on investment) for this Client. We consider our BPR recommendations critical to our partnering relationship, which ultimately determines our Clients' satisfaction and our own success. Our approach to evaluating and recommending BPR is to perform a study of current business procedures to ascertain the:
  • Organization’s structure and policies
  • Inter-departmental relationships
  • Vital internal and external business needs
  • Current and future business goals and objectives
  • Automated and manual business procedures
The intent of the study is to produce a document to aid our Clients in the implementation of certain products to insure that organizational goals and business requirements are met. The objective of this document is to provide:
  • A review of the current business procedures as they relate to Lawson/PeopleSoft.
  • Documentation of system considerations to ensure that business requirements are met.
  • Implementation considerations based on the outcome of the reviews.
  • Alternate methods of processing data to aid in reduction of operating costs and overall effort.
  • A recommendation for user-training requirements.
  • Transition considerations from current system or manual processes to Lawson/PeopleSoft.
The following measures are taken to meet the document’s objectives:
  • On-site interviews of key Client personnel are conducted for purposes of capturing the current business practices, and identifying business requirements that would need to be met by the Lawson/PeopleSoft system.
