Whenever the bottom fell out of the market as a result of the COVID pandemic, we witnessed many companies struggling to hang onto their businesses. Tenured employees who thought they had job security were laid-off, downsized, and furloughed. Companies folded by the hundreds or were acquired as part of a desperate act to stay solvent. As a result, we are seeing a phenomenon referred to as the “great resignation” play out. What COVID brought to light was there is no such thing as job security when working for a company, because there is no loyalty from companies or to companies. Loyalty and commitment are a choice that always comes down to people, not companies. And like most things in business, it starts with leadership. Leaders who understand that people choose to be a part of their organization, treat team members with the utmost respect.
We have learned some tough lessons in our 22 years as globalstar. So, when COVID hit, we were able to adapt and overcome without missing a beat. I attribute this adaptability to our model, our culture, and especially the individuals who choose to be a part of our organization. Globalstar’s message is simple: we are about people. That’s it... Malcolm Forbes once said, “There are a handful of companies who understand all successful business operations come down to three basic principles: People, Product, and Profit. Without top people, you cannot do much with the other two.”
Having a core group of top people in lead positions is what allows an organization to be resilient, no matter how adverse the circumstances. It’s imperative that leaders respectfully embrace the independent attributes from any/all team members who choose to give of their time, talent, and treasure to an organization. Globalstar is nothing more than a compilation of individuals who are particularly good at what they do, but together, we have an opportunity for unrivaled greatness! This endeavor we refer to Globalstar is an extraordinary collective vision that remains in the forefront of every decision we make. Companies come and go, but the assemblage of the right talent is forever, and that is what we have and are building on at Globalstar.
